Randall Kaplan Biography

As a boy, I always wanted to tell stories. Usually the stories would start with an image.

Most of the world disturbed and frightened me, but when I was drawing I was home. Over the years, I drew and drew, and all those things that frightened me most as a child ended up becoming a main source of inspiration for the images, for the stories.
I started my career in live action film. Back in 2009, my short horror films made in college were compiled into the anthology ‘Beneath the Flesh’, distributed by Pathfinder Pictures. Upon the release of the DVD, Turner Classic Movies said on their website of the films;
“Kaplan expertly blends the uncanny, grotesque, and the touching.”
That’s something I've continued to strive for in all of my work. Film or animation...painting or drawing.
